September 2006 Dear Orchestra Family Members and Friends, Welcome to an exciting year with the Herndon High Orchestras and HOBO (Herndon Orchestra Booster Organization). HOBO is a parent organization that works to enhance the musical experience of orchestra students and support the Orchestra Director. Every year we are involved in a variety of activities such as measuring for uniforms, maintaining a web site, helping plan activities for the students and of course, fundraising. We need your help to make this the best year ever for your student. In order to achieve the orchestras’ goals, funds are needed to cover festival fees, sheet music, transportation expenses, recording and playback, Master Classes, and website maintenance. HOBO helps to make these events happen. In particular, we have fundraisers during the year such as the cookie dough, cheesecake and HHS ornament sales to raise money. These sales help your student to cover the cost of the spring trip and other departmental expenses. New goals that we hope to achieve this year include subsidizing the Spring Trip, offering scholarships, and sponsoring a field trip to the Kennedy Center. One of the best (and easiest) ways you can support your student is to join the Herndon Orchestras Conductor’s Circle. Your membership has a direct impact on the quality of our program. There are some benefits for you as well. Please take a moment to look at the donor form to see you can help us make a more worthwhile musical experience for your child. In addition, we encourage you to ask your employer or the local businesses you frequent to consider supporting the HHS Orchestras. Many are happy to do so and there are many levels to choose from to show their support; the invitation letter and donor form are also posted on the Web site. You can make a difference in a student’s experience. Please join us in support of the Herndon High Orchestra as we look forward to a wonderful year. Sincerely, Herndon High Orchestras and |
