September 2006 Think for a moment about the importance of music in our world. Imagine Rocky, Star Wars, Forest Gump or Pirates of the Caribbean without the soundtrack. Broadway shows without the orchestras? It’s impossible. Music is a part of the fabric of our society. It brings so much to our world and we need your help to advance the education of our future orchestra musicians at Herndon High School. This will be an exciting year for the Herndon High Orchestra and HOBO (Herndon Orchestra Booster Organization). Last year’s accomplishments include:
Collectively, the orchestra, band, and guitar ensembles from Herndon received the festival's Sweepstakes Award and an invitation to perform in the elite Heritage Festival of Gold to be held at Symphony Hall in Boston this spring. The Herndon Orchestra Boosters Organization (HOBO) was established to support and enhance the orchestral music programs at Herndon High School, and the elementary and middle schools that feed Herndon High. We are organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our tax identification number is 0003018644. Unfortunately, the money we receive from the county budget and student
fundraising falls short of what is needed to sponsor the program that will
bring out the very best in our musicians. Your contribution is
tax-deductible and would help us to provide trips to the Kennedy Center,
Master Classes, financial scholarships, and to offset the cost of their
annual Spring Competition trip. The cost of this trip has increased steadily
over the years, putting it out of reach for many of our students. Please take a moment to look over the Herndon Orchestra Conductor’s Circle donor form to see if you might become a sponsor. Your support will have a direct impact on the quality of our program and there are some benefits for you as well. If you prefer not to sign up as a sponsor, a donation of any amount is always appreciated. You can make a difference in a student’s experience. Please join us in support of the Herndon High Orchestra as we look forward to a wonderful year. Sincerely, Herndon High Orchestras and |
