Herndon High Orchestra
Award Letters
An Orchestra Letter is awarded for achieving 300 points. A pin or bar is
earned for each additional 250 points:

Letters, pins, and bars will be presented at the end of the year.
Points are cumulative from year to year but must be submitted for credit
in the year for which the points are earned (summer activities should be
counted for the FALL school year). Students are to keep track of their
points on their form, which will be collected as the year draws to a close.
Previous High School Orchestra activities may be considered.
Points are awarded as follows:
50 points:
All-State Orchestra
Governor School (for music)
Musical pit orchestra
30 points:
4th year in orchestra
Senior Regional Orchestra
All-State Orchestra Audition
NSO Scholarship
HHS String Ensemble
(quartet, trio, etc.)
20 points:
3rd year in orchestra
Solo & Ensemble Participation
(per activity)
* Solo in a concert (each)
Regional Orchestra Audition
District Orchestra Audition
Top salesman in fundraiser (each)
Teach Private/Group Lessons
President of HHS Orchestra
Area Youth Orchestra

* Denotes that you must indicate the date, with what organization, and
have a verification signature (i.e. private teacher, church official, etc.)
Additional points may be awarded by the director for participation in
other musical activities.
Keep track of points as they happen, and keep your Point Tracker in
your music folder as a reminder.
