Southeast Invitational Music Festival in Atlanta.
- Symphonic orchestra receives a Superior (1) and first place in
the high school orchestra division.
- Concert orchestra receives an Excellent (2) and first place in
the open division.
Both orchestras played the same pieces that they performed at the
District XII Festival.
The high combined scores of the orchestra and guitar ensembles earned
the Instrumental Grand Sweepstakes Award. Three members of symphonic
orchestra were recognized as outstanding musicians:

The Herndon High Orchestra is named the Outstanding Orchestra Group.
Collectively, the orchestra, band and guitar ensembles from Herndon
receive the festival's Sweepstakes Award which brings an invitation to
perform in the elite Heritage Festival of Gold to be held at Symphony
